Straited Heron

The Striated Heron is a small bird that feeds on crabs and other crustaceans. They also eat molluscs and small fish. its process of catching prey is rather slow. They would either stand and wait for the animals to come out of its hole/burrow or sometimes, they would plunge from a perch.

The striated heron is mostly found in mangroves. They are easily recognised by their hunched posture, as it pulls its head close to the body, and keeps its tail down while looking for prey on the mudflats.
