habitat: rainforest (near creeks and rivers)

 

These are the smallest of the kangaroos. Kangaroos are descended from possums, and most kangaroos have evolved so that their possum-like features are gone. However, this kangaroo has not evolved much, and still looks like a small rodent.  

 

Diet: seeds, fruits (eg. fruits of the King Palm) , inverterbraes, fungi, plants, fleshy flowers, twigs and leaves, foliose lichen, insects and the soft inner bark of trees.

 

Predators: dingos, amethystine python, grey goshawks, owls, spotted tail quolls, domestic cats and farm dogs
