Bandicoot

Habitat: Rainforests, wet and dry woodlands and heath. In the day they nest in shallow holes in the ground, with leaf litter lining, built under dense vegetation or debris, protecting them from predators, rain and sun. They are more active at night. 

 

Feeding and Diet: Insects, earthworms, insect larvae and spiders. Plant tubers, roots and truffle-like fungi are consumed to supplement their diet.

 

Predators: Owls, quolls and dingoes.Introduced animals such as feral and domestic cats, dogs and foxes.

 

Threats: Habitat fragmentation, Habitat destruction such as fires
