Hippopotamus

There have been cases in the past in which the African hippopotamus has been smuggled into another country which has caused several problems and horrible repercussions. Transmittable diseases such leptospirosis (which then lead to meningitis) have been found in one of these hippopotmus’ dead body which means that its introduction could lead to the spreading of several deadly diseases. Research shows that the hippopotamus has caused more deaths than any other wild mammal in the world which would mean that the Daintree Rainforest would become a dangerous place for tourists.

Also, the hippopotamus eats plants which means that the native animals of the Daintree Rainforest that rely on these plants to sustain them would have a more limited food resource. Since the hippopotamus is very territorial, those native animals would have no choice but to deal with the food shortage since fighting for it would ultimately cause their death. Basically, introducing the hippopotamus to the Daintree Rainforest would ruin the food chain and cause several deaths (of both animals and humans if they bother the hippopotamus).
